The Sportsground Galway is a multi purpose sports venue. It is dually the home of Connaught rugby and also it is the Greyhound Stadium. The Greyhound Stadium has greyhound racing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in its new purpose built stand.
For the first year ever Connaught rugby will play in the major European rugby competition The Heineken Cup. In order to prepare for the competition the sportsgrounds are under development and will be able to cater for 7,500 spectators for the 2011/2012 season.
The Imperial Hotel in Galway city centre is only 10 minutes walk to the Sportsground which is situated on College Road on the way out of the city.
